GC09: Sony reveals PS3 Slim, price drop
Conference announcements officially confirm PS3 Slim, reveal a huge price drop on all systems
Sony's GC09 conference has just concluded, and the PS3 slim has been finally confirmed. It is set to have all the same features as current models, except for 35% lighter weight, 34% less power consumption and a standard 120GB hard drive. The price is set to be $299, and the price point is retro-active starting tomorrow on all current PS3 models. The Slim is set to ship in early September.
Among other news at the conference, a few Europe-only announcements were made. A digital reader for the PSP was announced, as well as a partnership with Marvel comics to bring them to the reader in downloadable form. Some new colors and bundles for PSP3000 were announced.
Heavy rain also appeared, with a developer commentary and reveal of two new primary characters, along with a new trailer.
Some noticable lack of news about GT5 release date, backwards compatability, and North America-specific announcements may dissapoint some readers. But the big rumour was finally confirmed, and with a huge price drop along with it, there is now only exclusive games that can help you as a deciding factor of which console to choose. Price is no longer an argument.
