Blizzard starting over on its next MMO
Company says the game needs major design adjustments
Blizzard Entertainment has reduced the team working on its upcoming MMO, codenamed Titan, from a former total of 100 developers to just 30.
Reported by GI, Titan was expected to debut in 2014, but Blizzard is going back to design stages of the game with the core team of 30 developers. The new start pushes the game's rumored release date back to 2016.
The company commented on the decision, saying: "We've always had a highly iterative development process, and the unannounced MMO is no exception. We've come to a point where we need to make some large design and technology changes to the game. We're using this opportunity to shift some of our resources to assist with other projects while the core team adapts our technology and tools to accommodate these new changes. Note that we haven't announced any dates for the MMO."
Blizzard created and currently runs the most popular MMO globally with World of Warcraft.
