Nintendo not hosting press conference at E3 2013
Publisher and creator of Wii U opts for smaller events instead
Nintendo has said that it will not be hosting the usual big press conference together with this year's E3 show.
In the reported Financial Results Briefing for Fiscal year ended March 2013, released today, the company has said it is choosing to go in a new direction, and not host the large conference to make announcements. Instead, it will focus on smaller and more private events with press and distributors to showcase the products. And as well, the company will have its usual booth at the actual E3 convention.
The presentation stated, "As a brand new challenge, we are working to establish a new presentation style for E3. We have decided not to host a large-scale presentation targeted at everyone in the international audience where we announce new information as we did in the past. Instead, at the E3 show this year, we are planning to host a few smaller events that are specifically focused on our software lineup for the U.S. market."
This marks the first time in over 15 years that Nintendo will not be having a press conference event to open the E3. The company will instead utilize their Nintendo Direct events to bring new information direct to the players.
E3 2013 takes place in Los Angeles June 11 to 13.
