The Witcher franchise reaches 5 million in sales
Announcement comes as the next chapter is unveiled
CD Projekt RED has announced that The Witcher series has been bought by over 5 million gamers.
The Witcher came out in October 2007 for PC. The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings released for PC in May 2011 and Xbox 360 in April 2012. Both titles were well-recieved and praised in particular thanks to the relaxed DRM and constant free updates.
To celebrate, the developers have dropped the price of The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition for Xbox 360 to 29.99 USD/ 29.99 EUR/ 19.99 GBP and are putting The Witcher: Enhanced Edition Director's Cut and The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition on sale for 50% off at GOG.com and Steam until the 8th of February.
The recently announced third instalment of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is the final episode of the RPG series and the final chapter in the legend of Geralt of Rivia. The game is planned for release in 2014 on PC and next-generation consoles.
