StarCraft 2 requires one-time Online activation.

Posted by nutcrackr on

After installing StarCraft 2 for the first time players must allow a one time online activation before they can proceed to Single Player. In other words this is just Blizzards form of DRM that is similar to many activation techniques in use (e.g. Crysis, Half-Life 2). Once activated however, like other digital distribution games, you can then disconnect and play offline without being constantly online and play the single player.

Players who want achievements, friends lists and the like will need to have a Battle.net account and be online all the time, much like many games with achievements on the PC.
