New 3.15 PS3 firmware now live
Optional update enables content transfer between two PS3 systems, support for Minis
Sony has released the PS3 firmware 3.10 only weeks ago, bringing Facebook to the PS3. Now Sony has unveiled with the PS3 firmware 3.15 yet another update with new features.
Sony's PS3 firmware 3.15 offers a new data transfer utility to copy games, game save data, and videos downloaded from PlayStation Network to another PS3 system and delete them from the current PS3 system. This feature is only interesting when you get a 2nd PS3 in your house or if you replace your large PS3 with a PS3 Slim.
The PS3 firmware 3.15 update also enables "minis" to be played on a PS3 system. Minis launched on PlayStation Network this fall in conjunction with the launch of PSPgo.
These bite-sized games offer a more casual experience and are ideal for shorter gameplay sessions. Now PS3 owners will be able to play minis, and those who own both a PS3 and PSP system will be able to play on either platform.
Minis for the Sony PS3 will be available for download on PlayStation Store in the coming weeks. If you’ve purchased any Minis already for your PSP and the title becomes available for PS3, you’ll simply need to download the title to your PS3.
The 3.15 update is now ready, but you will not be asked to download it. If you want it, go to your System Update menu item and search for updates.
