DayZ announced as a standalone game
Popular ArmA 2 mod to become its own title
The development team behind a hugely popular DayZ mod for ArmA 2 has announced that a standalone title will be made.
DayZ will be developed as a standalone game by Bohemia Interactive. Development and updates of the mod will continue in parallel with the development of the game, so anyone who is playing the mod now will be able to continue to do so.
The project will follow the Minecraft development model; fast iterations with the community alpha available for a heavily discounted price.
DayZ is currently a mod for ARMA2: Combined Ops. It rapidly gained popularity following release earlier this year. Players are tasked with surviving a zombie outbreak in extremely realistic conditions. The mod recently surpassed 1 million players.
