Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim ships 7 million copies
Seven million copies of RPG shipped to stores, revenue expected to hit $450 million
ZeniMax Media has announced that Bethesda Softworks’ newly released RPG title, The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, has shipped seven million units which are expected to generate more than $450 million in global retail sales.
More than 50% of launch units were sold in the first 48 hours - that's over 3.5 million. Digital sales were not counted, although Steam reported that in the first 24 hours of its release, Skyrim saw over 280,000 concurrent players.
“We are grateful for the fans’ response to Skyrim,” said Robert Altman, Chairman and CEO of ZeniMax Media. “Todd Howard and his team at Bethesda Game Studios have crafted a very special game. Anticipation for Skyrim has surpassed any game in our company’s history, and we are pleased that sales and reviews have reflected the quality and hours of amazing gameplay it provides.”
Developed by Bethesda Game Studios, Skyrim is in stores now for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.
