Ridge Racer Unbounded release date set
Destructive racing game coming in March 2012
Namco Bandai Games America has announced the release date for Ridge Racer Unbounded is set for early next year.
This latest entry in the series turbo-charges the racing with full environmental and vehicular destruction. Helsinki-based development studio Bugbear Entertainment is in charge of the development.
“Ridge Racer Unbounded brings the high-octane racing that the series is known for and injects new layers of destruction and carnage to the already intense formula,” says Carlson Choi, vice president of Marketing, Namco Bandai Games America. “With the new sophisticated City Creator, fans can easily create an unlimited number of tracks and share them with their friends for limitless replay value.”
In single player mode, players must impress Kara Shindo, leader of the Unbounded gang, to develop street cred in Shatter Bay through high-speed destruction. Domination Race encourages players to destroy everything in sight including rival cars, the environment and other traffic on the road. Survival Race gives the player one car and one chance to avoid destruction to finish in first place. Additional game modes include action focused on just taking out other cars, drifting and dueling.
In addition to the single player mode, racers can take their driving skills online against other players in several multiplayer modes. Ridge Racer Unbounded will provide players the chance to dominate cities created by other players, using City Creator.
Ridge Racer Unbounded will be available in North America on March 6, 2012, and in Europe on March 2, 2012 for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Windows PC.
