Ubisoft cancels UPlay Passport service for Driver SF following printing error
Online access codes included with the game were mis-printed, UPlay service no longer required to play online
Ubisoft has announced that due to a printing error, the UPass program has been removed from the newly released Driver: San Francisco.
The UPass codes, which unlock multiplayer functionality for the racing game, were apparently mis-printed which resulted in alot of invalid codes being included with new game copies. Due to this, many users would have found it impossible to activate and and play online.
Because of this, Ubisoft has selected to provide all users with free UPass content. The game will still ask for a code, but players simply need to select "Start 2 day trial" which has now been made an endless trial. The publisher has apologized for the error.
Driver: San Francisco is set to reboot the racing franchise, and is out today on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. It was set to be the first title to use UPass in order to restrict multiplayer. For more, check out our review of Driver: San Francisco.
