2K Games fires PR firm over Duke Nukem comments
Publisher ends contract with PR company following its remarks on Twitter
PR firm The Redner Group had some harsh words for game journalists and blogs that gave Duke Nukem Forever poor reviews. As a result, 2K Games has ended its relationship with the firm, it was announced today.
On Tuesday, The Redner Group's Twitter feed posted "Too many went too far with their reviews...we are reviewing who gets games next time and who doesn't based on today's venom." "Bad scores are fine, Venom filled reviews...that's completely different." The tweet has since been deleted.
Redner quickly apologized though by later posting, "I have to apologize to the community. I acted out of pure emotion. I will be sending each of you a private apology. I need to state for the record that 2K had nothing to do with this. I will be calling each of you tomorrow to apologize."
2K Games has now announced that they've broken off their business relation with Redner in a Twitter post that states, "2K Games does not endorse or condone the comments made by @TheRednerGroup and confirm they no longer represent our products."
"We maintain a mutually respectful relationship with the press and will continue to do so. We don't condone @TheRednerGroup's actions at all." another tweet from 2K read.
Duke Nukem Forever has garnered mostly negative reviews since its release on Tuesday.
