ASUS Teases New Xbox Controller With ROG Logo and Extra Buttons

ASUS reveals a 13-second teaser of a new Xbox controller with ROG RGB logo, paddle, and extra face buttons, confirming full details at Gamescom 2025.

ASUS has released a short reveal video on its official YouTube channel that shows the outline of what appears to be a new Xbox controller. The clip presents the familiar Xbox controller shape and includes a brief look at paddle buttons positioned on the back. ASUS has confirmed that additional details will be announced at Gamescom 2025, which takes place from August 20 to August 24. The full program for Gamescom is already live, though ASUS has not shared the exact timing of its controller reveal. This year, ASUS is listed as a Premium Partner for the event, joining Nintendo, which is also set to participate.

The caption accompanying the teaser states that the controller is made with a new kind of material. ASUS has previously used magnets in its gaming keyboards, and the reference in the video suggests this may be an attempt to introduce that approach to controller design. The teaser also states that “something extraordinary is coming,” and that ASUS plans to present the new accessory during Gamescom.

ASUS first launched an Xbox-compatible controller in 2023, the ROG Raikiri Pro, along with a standard Raikiri model. The Raikiri Pro included an OLED display, tri-mode connectivity, and customization through ASUS’s Armoury Crate software. One of its defining features was a battery life of up to 48 hours, which exceeded most other controllers available at the time.

The new teaser video is 13 seconds long and provides only limited information. From the footage, the controller shows changes compared to the standard Xbox design. The Xbox button appears smaller than usual, the share and start buttons have a new design, and the layout includes two additional face buttons. Around the grips, extra buttons are also visible. A Republic of Gamers RGB logo is placed at the center of the controller’s face.

ASUS has recently been active in the handheld market with the ROG Xbox Ally and the ROG Xbox Ally X, portable gaming devices designed to support both Xbox and Steam titles. These handhelds feature an Xbox-themed user interface and are part of ASUS’s expanding collaboration with Microsoft. At Gamescom 2025, ASUS and Microsoft are scheduled to discuss the ROG Xbox Ally, and the newly released controller teaser confirms that an additional announcement will be part of ASUS’s presentations at the event.

The company described this upcoming controller as one that will help players “experience the future of gaming,” though no further specifications have been provided. The information currently available is limited to the details shown in the teaser video and the confirmation that more news will follow during Gamescom 2025.
