Terminator 2D: No Fate Delayed Until Halloween, But It's Not All Bad
Find out why the new Terminator game was delayed from September 5 to October 31, due to physical edition production delays affecting all release formats.
Terminator 2D: No Fate, developed by Bitmap Bureau and published by Reef Entertainment, has been delayed from its original release date of September 5, 2025. The new release date is October 31, 2025. The delay was announced on July 22, 2025, through Reef Entertainment’s official X (formerly Twitter) account.

Coordinating and manufacturing the physical release has been a longer process than we anticipated, and as a result, we’ve had to delay the release of the game. We apologise, and thank you for bearing with us.…
The reason for the delay is the extended timeline required to coordinate and manufacture the game’s physical edition. Reef Entertainment stated that this process took longer than anticipated. As a result, the publisher decided to postpone both the physical and digital versions so that they can be released simultaneously. Reef Entertainment explained that this delay will also give Bitmap Bureau additional time to apply the final polish to the game, including work on a day one patch.
Terminator 2D: No Fate is a pixel-art, run-and-gun video game based on the 1991 film Terminator 2: Judgment Day, which starred Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton, and Edward Furlong. The game includes characters Sarah Connor, John Connor, and the T-800 as playable options. And as expected, its sequences are based directly on the events of the film, including original content and multiple endings.
Bitmap Bureau is using this project to build on its previous retro-inspired work. The studio has previously developed Final Vendetta and Xeno Crisis, both of which currently have “very positive” ratings on the platform Steam.
According to details from the publisher, the physical release of Terminator 2D: No Fate will be available in two versions. The Day One Edition includes a reversible cover sleeve, a cloth poster titled “Unknown Future,” a 25mm collectible metal arcade token, a full-color manual, and a collector’s box. The Collector’s Edition will contain all of the Day One Edition content, plus a collector’s tin, a steelbook, an additional cloth poster titled “Fiery Visions,” a premium metal paperweight, a flipbook, and an art book.
The game is scheduled to release on multiple platforms. Although specific platforms were not named in the delay announcement, earlier details described it as launching on "pretty much every major platform."
The game was originally announced in February 2025. Trailers for the game include 2D sprite graphics and fast-paced gameplay. Visuals and mechanics shown in trailers have been compared to the Contra franchise.
The October 31, 2025, release date places Terminator 2D: No Fate in the same month as other scheduled releases, including Ghost of Yotei, Pokémon Legends: Z-A, Ninja Gaiden 4, and The Outer Worlds 2.
A separate title in the Terminator franchise, Terminator: Survivors, is also in development. It is an open-world survival game set after the events of Judgment Day. No release date has been confirmed for Terminator: Survivors, but it is expected to launch in 2025.
