Battlefield 6 Reveal Confirmed for Summer 2025 as EA Expands Global Testing
Find out how EA plans to reveal Battlefield 6 in summer 2025, expand global playtesting, and bring back classic features through Battlefield Labs.
Electronic Arts has confirmed that the full reveal of the next Battlefield game, unofficially referred to as Battlefield 6, will take place in summer 2025. Andy McNamara, global senior director of integrated communications for Battlefield Studios, stated that the team remains focused on Battlefield Labs and is preparing for the game’s official reveal. He also noted that the community will be informed when the reveal is ready. No specific date has been announced, but summer ends on September 23, 2025.
Battlefield 6 is being developed by the largest team in the franchise’s history. Battlefield Studios is made up of four EA-owned developers: DICE, Criterion, Ripple Effect, and EA Motive. The studios are jointly working on the game following the poor reception of Battlefield 2042, which was released on November 19, 2021, developed by DICE, Criterion, and Ripple Effect and quickly became one of the lowest-rated games on Steam.
Since March 2025, Battlefield 6 has been in alpha testing through Battlefield Labs, an invite-only program where selected players can test early builds under non-disclosure agreements. Over 600,000 players from North America and Europe have participated. EA confirmed the program will expand to select regions in Asia. The testing includes evaluation of gameplay features such as movement, combat pacing, destruction, weapon balancing, and damage values.
Despite NDAs, leaked footage from Battlefield Labs has appeared online. The videos show ground gunfights, aerial dogfights with jets, and player roles resembling traditional classes such as Assault and Support. Leaked content also points to the return of large-scale Conquest modes with high player counts. EA has not officially confirmed any of the leaked details.
Andrew Wilson, CEO of Electronic Arts, reiterated in the company’s Q4 and fiscal year 2025 earnings report that Battlefield 6 will be revealed this summer. He described the game as a “pivotal step” in EA’s strategy to deliver a new generation of blockbuster games. Wilson confirmed the title is scheduled to launch within EA’s fiscal year 2026, which ends on March 31, 2026. He previously acknowledged the possibility of a delay depending on market conditions, referring generally to “some things happening in the year,” without specifying titles. In February 2025, Grand Theft Auto VI was delayed to May 2025, which may have influenced those considerations.
Interested players can still register for Battlefield Labs through the official website. The Battlefield Discord server remains active, providing a platform for players to connect and receive updates on franchise news.
While development continues on Battlefield 6, Battlefield 2042 has received new content. On June 17, 2025, EA launched a crossover update featuring Mass Effect. The update includes character skins modeled after N7 armor worn by Commander Shepard and weapon skins based on those from the original Mass Effect trilogy. The content is released in two separate bundles, with a third bundle combining both.
This Mass Effect crossover follows a previous collaboration with Dead Space during Battlefield 2042’s seventh and final season in summer 2024. The update introduced a mode called “Outbreak,” where teams of four players fought against waves of AI-controlled enemies inspired by the Dead Space remake released in 2023. Completing the mode granted themed rewards, including a cosmetic skin resembling Isaac Clarke’s suit.
BioWare is currently developing a new Mass Effect sequel. A live-action television adaptation is also in production at Amazon, written by Daniel Casey and produced by Avi Arad. No release date has been announced for either project.
EA has not yet confirmed the official title, platforms, or specific features of Battlefield 6. All publicly known details remain limited to statements made by EA executives and information from Battlefield Labs. The full reveal is expected later this summer.
