Hearthstone's Lost City of Un'Goro Expansion Brings New Cards, Quests, and Events

Find out what's coming in Hearthstone's Lost City of Un'Goro--145 new cards, Quests, Kindred, Maps, events, and rewards starting July 8, 2025.

Hearthstone is heading back to Un’Goro Crater with a new expansion called The Lost City of Un’Goro. Coming out on July 8, 2025, it adds 145 new collectible cards to the game, old characters, and launches with several in-game and community events.

The story follows Loh, a Tortollan explorer, who is trying to find a hidden city inside the crater. But he’s not alone; he’s joined by Elise Starseeker, who is the team’s navigator, and Umbra, a former Tortollan leader who now acts as their guide. Together, they search for the Lost City, which is said to be filled with Titan technology and volcanic power.

One of the big features in this expansion is the return of Quest spells, which are 1-cost spells that start in your opening hand. Each class gets a new Legendary Quest card, and when you complete its goal, you earn a reward.

Another new feature is the Kindred keyword. A Kindred card gets a bonus effect if you played a card of the same minion type or spell school on your previous turn, which encourages players to plan and build decks with better synergy.

The expansion also introduces Maps. When you play a Map, you Discover a card. If you play the card you chose on the same turn, you get to Discover again. There are six Maps included in the set.

Not to mention, there are Story cards, which connect to earlier adventures in Un’Goro and bring back parts of Hearthstone’s past. The expansion includes seven Story cards in total.

Players can buy the expansion ahead of time with different pre-purchase bundles. The Mega Bundle includes:

  • 80 Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 10 Golden Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 1 Random Signature Lost City of Un’Goro Legendary Card
  • 1 Random Golden Lost City of Un’Goro Legendary Card
  • 4 Tavern Tickets
  • Spiritsinger Umbra Card Back
  • Spiritsinger Umbra Warlock Hero Skin

The standard bundle includes:

  • 60 Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 2 Random Lost City of Un’Goro Legendary Cards
  • Spiritsinger Umbra Card Back

If you buy both, you unlock the Sequence Bundle, which includes:

  • 10 Golden Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 30 Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 2 Random Signature Legendary Cards

All three bundles are available until the expansion launches on July 8.

Before the release, Blizzard is hosting several events. It starts with Dinos vs. Tortollans on June 13 at 9:30 a.m. PT, streamed on Twitch and YouTube. Real lizards represent dinosaurs, and turtles represent Tortollans. They will compete in three activities—racing, eating, and climbing. Viewers can get two free card packs from the expansion by watching the stream on either platform. Each animal has a personal handler, and no animals will be harmed.

Next are the Theorycrafting Streams, where selected players will test new cards in early deck builds. North America, Latin America, and Europe will stream on June 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. PDT.Asia-Pacific streams will run on June 27 from 2:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. PDT. Every deck must include at least 10 cards from the new expansion. Twitch Drops will be active from June 26 at 9:00 a.m. to June 27 at 9:00 a.m. PDT, giving viewers up to two free Lost City of Un’Goro packs. Streams will also give away Mega Bundle codes.

There will also be a Theorycasting Stream on June 26 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. PDT, with commentary from Sottle, Lorinda, Edelweiss, and Raven on the official Hearthstone Twitch channel.

Then, on June 28 at 10:00 a.m. PT, Rarran’s Rumble takes place. Four teams will face off in matches using cards from the new expansion. The teams are:

  • Rarran and CovertGoBlue
  • Voxy and AmyTheAmazonian
  • Roffle and Day9
  • Nyhmnim and Cimoooooooo

They will play using Conquest Format rules. Viewers who watch the event on Twitch can earn two more Lost City of Un’Goro packs through Drops.

Starting July 1 through July 8, players can enter the Pre-Release Tavern Brawl. Each player gets one free entry. After that, it costs 2 Tavern Tickets, 300 Gold, or 400 Runestones. In this Brawl, players open their packs early, build a deck, and try to get up to 6 wins before losing 3 games. The eligible card pool includes the Core Set, Event Set, Into the Emerald Dream, Embers of the World Tree Mini-Set, and The Lost City of Un’Goro. Two cards, Creature of Madness and Hamuul Runetotem, are banned. Extra cards from other sets are also included to support new Quest cards, such as:

  • For Hunter: Painted Cavasaur and Toyrannosaurus
  • For Priest: Nightshade Tea, Orbital Halo, and Silvermoon Brochure
  • For Rogue: Agency Espionage and Adaptive Amalgam
  • For Warlock: Sweetened Snowflurry and Sketch Artist

During the same week, from July 1 at 10:00 a.m. PDT to July 5 at 10:00 a.m. PDT, Community Days will offer free card packs for watching Hearthstone streams. You can earn:

  • 3 Year of the Pegasus Packs
  • 3 Into the Emerald Dream Packs
  • 4 Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • Each drop is unlocked after 2 hours of watch time.

From June 17 to July 8, the Secrets of Un’Goro in-game event will be live. Players complete quests to earn event XP. Finishing the reward track gives:

  • 2 Sharp-Eyed Lookout
  • 2 Golden Sharp-Eyed Lookout
  • 2 Dissolving Ooze
  • 2 Golden Dissolving Ooze
  • 4 Lost City of Un’Goro Packs
  • 2 Tavern Tickets

The card Sharp-Eyed Lookout has a special ability: it will show what card it will draw once it "knows its name." Dissolving Ooze is a Rare card from the new expansion.

Players who log in now will receive the Legendary card Endbringer Umbra for free. After Patch 33.6, this card will only be found in card packs. Also available in the shop are two free copies of Blob of Tar, a sticky minion that can evolve into either Lanky Blob or Robust Blob, depending on how it plays out. These cards are available in Patch 32.4 and 33.0. After Patch 33.2, Blob of Tar will appear in card packs instead of being a shop reward.

Patch 32.4 also updates Arena mode. There are now two Arena formats: The Arena and The Underground. The Arena is available to all players and allows up to 5 wins or 2 losses. The Underground unlocks after players earn 7 wins in The Arena. It offers longer runs up to 12 wins, tougher matchmaking, and bigger rewards. Drafting now starts with Legendary buckets, which group cards that work well with your first Legendary pick. In The Underground, there’s a Redraft on Loss feature. If you lose a match, you get to choose from 5 new draft cards to improve your deck.

Finally, Patch 32.4 brings many bug fixes and changes, including updates to card effects, such as Dormant minions with Reborn, visual errors with Signature cards, and interactions involving minions like Spiritsinger Umbra, Ohn’ahra, and Toreth the Unbreaking. Several Battlegrounds bugs were also fixed, including issues with Trinkets, Blood Gems, and minion types.
