Get all Nintendo Switch 2 pre-order details, prices, restock updates, retailer info, bundles, accessories, and launch updates ahead of the June 5 release.
The Nintendo Switch 2 will be released globally on Wednesday, June 5, 2025. The official retail price is $449.99 in the U.S. and £395 in the U.K. A bundle including Mario Kart World is also available for $499.99 in the U.S. and £429 in the U.K.
In the United States, pre-orders began on April 24, 2025 at 12:00 a.m. ET and sold out within minutes across all participating retailers, such as Nintendo, Walmart, Best Buy, Target, GameStop, and Newegg.
As of June 2, all U.S. pre-order inventory has been sold out. However, Best Buy, Target, and GameStop have confirmed launch day restocks on June 5, including midnight store openings for pre-order pickups and new in-store purchases.
- Best Buy began online pre-orders on April 24 and has confirmed midnight local time store openings on June 5 for customers to pick up orders or buy in person.
- GameStop opened online and in-store pre-orders on April 24 and has also confirmed midnight launch events at participating locations.
- Target started pre-orders on April 24 at 12 a.m. ET and will restock inventory on release day, with in-store availability expected.
Walmart opened online pre-orders at 12:00 a.m. ET on April 24 and offered guaranteed delivery by launch day for orders placed before 8:00 a.m. ET on June 4. As of now, no new stock has been confirmed for release day, but the product page remains active.
Antonline has published a listing page for the Nintendo Switch 2 and the Mario Kart World bundle but has not opened pre-orders as of June 2. No restock timing has been provided.
Newegg also has live listing pages but has not announced specific pre-order or restock dates.
Amazon U.S. has not launched a Nintendo Switch 2 product page, and no pre-order or release day information has been confirmed.
Nintendo’s official U.S. store offered pre-order access through email invites sent on May 8, 2025, to selected Nintendo account holders. A U.K.-specific restock also occurred on the same day, limited to users with an active Nintendo Online membership. Nintendo has not confirmed if additional U.S. stock will be made available.
In the United Kingdom, pre-orders also opened on April 24 and sold out initially. However, retailers have restocked several times since. As of June 2, pre-orders and bundles are available or frequently restocked at the following U.K. retailers:
Currys, Very, Amazon UK, ShopTo, EE Store, Argos, The Game Collection, My Nintendo Store UK, Smyths Toys, John Lewis, and GAME.
Retailers such as Currys and GAME have offered the console in bundled formats, including accessories and games. Like always, the bundles are priced above the base retail price, with some combinations exceeding £500 depending on the contents.
The Switch 2 will ship with 256 GB of internal flash memory, an upgrade from the original Switch’s 32 GB. It supports microSD Express cards only—older UHS-I microSD cards will not function. Support for these new storage cards requires a mandatory day-one software update, confirmed by printed messaging on the Mario Kart World bundle retail packaging.
This day-one update will also enable 3D audio output through the console’s built-in speakers. Without this update, 3D audio is only supported via external devices, such as headphones or HDMI-connected TVs. Nintendo has not confirmed if the patch will be available before June 5.
Retailers are also offering Nintendo Switch 2 accessories for pre-order:
- Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller: $84 at Walmart. Also available at Best Buy and GameStop.
- Joy-Con 2 Controllers (pair): $94 at Walmart, also sold by Best Buy and GameStop.
- Nintendo Switch 2 Camera: $54 at Walmart, with listings also at Best Buy and GameStop.
- Hori Piranha Plant Camera: $59 at Walmart, available at Best Buy. It features 480p resolution and a privacy-closing design.
- Joy-Con 2 Wheel (2-pack): $24 at Walmart, also available at Best Buy and GameStop.
- Nintendo Switch 2 AC Adapter: $34 at Walmart, with listings at Best Buy and GameStop.
- Nintendo Switch 2 All-In-One Carrying Case: $84 at Walmart, also available at Best Buy and GameStop.
- Samsung 256GB microSD Express Card: $59 at Walmart, compatible with the Switch 2.
As for software, Nintendo Switch 2 will launch with full backward compatibility for most Nintendo Switch titles, with the exception of Nintendo Labo Toy-Con 04: VR Kit. This title is unplayable because the Switch 2 is physically too large to fit into the Toy-Con VR headset.
Nintendo confirmed that all other first-party games are compatible, but some will require original Joy-Con controllers, including Ring Fit Adventure, 1-2 Switch, and Nintendo Switch Sports.
Additionally, Fitness Boxing will require a post-launch patch to run on the new hardware.
As of May 27, Nintendo published updated compatibility data:
- 118 titles still have startup issues
- 50 games start but have in-game compatibility issues
- 54 additional games are listed as requiring updates, which are planned for launch or shortly after
Games that previously had startup issues—such as Doom Eternal and Pizza Tower—are now listed as planned to be fixed.
Media apps such as Hulu and Crunchyroll will not work on the Switch 2 at launch. Nintendo has not stated whether future versions are in development.
Confirmed Nintendo Switch 2 launch and upcoming titles include:
- Mario Kart World: $79.99 standalone or included in the $499 bundle. Supports 24-player races, track-wide driving, and new power-ups.
- Donkey Kong Bananza: Launches July 17, 2025, with gameplay that includes terrain destruction and underground exploration.
