Gears of War: E-Day announced

Microsoft and developers The Coalition have announced Gears of War: E-Day.

Gears of War: E-Day is set 14 years before the events of the original Gears of War and tells the story of the first Locust emergence on Sera. It is an origin story that depicts the horror of Locust invasion on Emergence Day through the eyes of Marcus Fenix and Dom.

The new game will be powered by Unreal Engine 5.

The developers say that the narrative that is underway with Gears 4 and Gears 5 is still to be concluded, at a different time. The team notes that E-Day is not a spin-off, it’s a completely new entry to the mainline series, set earlier in the timeline. The events of the game serve as an origin tale of two characters, and adds detail and context to this period.

Gears of War: E-Day does not yet have a planned launch window.
