Gunsmith detailed for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
Aftermarket parts to change weapon identity
Slegehammer Games have revealed more information about the upcoming Gunsmith for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III. Like in its predecessor, Gunsmith is the weapon customization system that lets players swap attachments to create their ideal setup. Players gain XP to unlock specific attachments for weapons. New this year are the concept of Aftermarket parts, accessible once a weapon reaches its max level.
Sets of Aftermarket parts are called Conversion Kits, and they will transform how a weapon functions. For example, players can transform the belt-fed Pulemyot LMG with the Bullpup Conversion Kit, increasing the weapon’s mobility and handling, and rate of fire. The burst-fire Renetti pistol can be transformed into a full-auto weapon reminiscent of an SMG. These Conversion Kits will only become available while players complete challenges, such as getting a certain number of kills. Also, when Conversion Kits are used on a weapon, it will also change which other attachments can be equipped.
Fans of the series will be pleased to know that small 1x optics will no longer have penalties when equipping them. So red-dot sights will no longer hurt aim-down-sight speed. Also, for the new weapons in Modern Warfare III, attachments such as Grips, Barrels, Magazines, and Stocks will no longer require players to use a specific weapon after they’ve already been unlocked for another one.
Call of Duty Modern Warfare III is coming to PC , PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S on November 10, 2023.
