Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II formally announced
New shooter coming this October, followed by Warzone 2.0
Publisher Activision and developer Infinity Ward have announced Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II, set to launch on October 28, 2022.
Players will experience what made Task Force 141 become the iconic and legendary squad that it is, featuring familiar heroes and new allies who will be challenged to work together in missions across Europe, Asia and the Americas. The Campaign promises offshore sieges with underwater combat, assaults from 30,000 feet above enemy strongholds, and low-profile stealth missions. Starting with Modern Warfare II, the new title features the new, next-generation engine that first debuted with Modern Warfare (2019).
Players can also join up with their duo for Special Ops, a tactical co-op mode, or join others in Multiplayer. More details on Multiplayer will be revealed later.
Fans can pre-order today, with a special Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II Vault Edition (USD $99.99) that includes a copy of the game, four playable Multiplayer Operators — Ghost, Farah, Price, and Soap — each wearing a special masked outfit; FJX Cinder Weapon Vault; Season 1 Battle Pass and 50 Tier Skips, 10 Hours Double XP Tokens, and 10 Hours Double Weapon XP Tokens at Launch.
The Cross-Gen Bundle of Modern Warfare II, available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One, offers flexibility both in terms of potential upgrades and platform availability. All PC versions can be purchased through Battle.net or also now on Steam. Every digital and physical edition of the game will include early access to the game’s Beta - deatils on the Beta to follow later.
Further, the all-new Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 comes out later this year. With it comes new technology, new features, and new gameplay that work seamlessly together. Warzone 2.0 will feature new Modern Warfare II content and systems with brand-new progression and inventories. Today’s Warzone will continue as a separate experience that will include a continuation of player progression and inventories within that Warzone experience.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II is scheduled for release on October 28 for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PC Battle.net, and PC Steam. Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 is scheduled for release later this year on the same platforms.
