ESA cancels E3 2022 event
The organizer says show will return in 2023
ESA, the US trade association dedicated to interactive entertainment and owner and operator of the E3 event, has announced in a brief statement that this year's show will not occur in any format.
E3 2020 was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and E3 2021 was a digital-only event. Now, the organization says 2022 won't have an E3 at all, digital or otherwise, but promises that the event will return next year.
"Instead, we will devote all our energy and resources to delivering a revitalized physical and digital E3 experience next summer. Whether enjoyed from the show floor or your favorite devices, the 2023 showcase will bring the community, media, and industry back together in an all-new format and interactive experience," said the organization.
It was also confirmed that the 2023 show will stick around in Los Angeles, where it has been hosted for most of its existence.
