Epic Games acquires Harmonix
Music game developer will continue with their current plans
Epic Games have announced that they purchased developer Harmonix.
Harmonix are best known for their music game genre titles, from creating the original Guitar Hero, and later Rock Band, and continuing with games such as Fuser and Dance Central.
Founded in 1995 and located in Boston, Massachusetts, the developers were purchased by Viacom from 2006 until 2010, when they again became independent until now.
Both companies reassured fans that they will still deliver on existing Rock Band 4 DLC tracks, and all Harmonix’s games will remain available on Steam and consoles.
Further, there are no plans to make more Rock Band instruments. There are no plans to change the way Harmonix supports any of its older titles.
Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
