Sony to continue PS4 game development
Many upcoming projects will be cross-gen, including God of War and GT7
In a new interview on PS Blog, Hermen Hulst, Head of PlayStation Studios, has confirmed new details about the future plans of PS4 and PS5 games.
In a written Q&A post, Hulst confirmed that Sony is not ready to abandon the huge 110 million PS4 owner install base. To that end, many upcoming titles will be cross-generational. This includes Horizon Forbidden West, as well as news that Gran Turismo 7 and the next God of War game will also appear on PS4.
There will still be some PS5 exclusives, such as Returnal and Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart.
The company is also investigating their PC approach, having recently released Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn. More plans are in the works for PC.
The Sony PlayStation 5 console launched last year, and has sold 7.8 million units as of April 2021.
