Cyberpunk 2077 launch marred by performance problems
The recently released game pulled from PSN store, Sony and Microsoft offering refunds
Following the launch of Cyberpunk 2077 earlier this month, players have been reporting poor technical performance, partiuclarly on PS4 and Xbox One base consoles. Actions are now being taken by the console makers to address those concerns.
Developers CD Projekt Red first released a statement on December 14, four days after launch, acknowledging the issues on the base last-gen consoles and saying that they will be working with fans to process refunds. They also advised customers to ask for refunds with Sony/Xbox directly for those who bought it digitally.
On December 17th, Sony took the process further, not only offering refunds to fans but also pulling the game entirely from the PlayStation Store. CDPR followed up with their own statement on the matter.
A day later, on December 18th Microsoft has also announced they are expanding their refund policy with regards to the game.
According to user reports, Cyberpunk 2077 suffers from a variety of technical issues, but they are by far the most profound and game-breaking on the Xbox One and PS4 base consololes, which has stirred this ongoing situtation.
Cyberpunk 2077 is also available on PC, Xbox Series X and PS5 via backwards compatibility, where the issues are less severe.
