Oninaki demo released

Square Enix has announced that a demo for Oninaki is now available.

Oninaki is the next title from Tokyo RPG Factory, creators of I Am Setsuna and Lost Sphear. Oninaki is set in a new world which shares a common thread with the previous titles in its unique take on life and death. This time it’s centered around the idea of the cycle of reincarnation.

In the demo, you can play through the opening part of the story and then carry your progress across to the full version of the game. Players assume the role of a Watcher named Kagachi, doing battle by “manifesting” the souls of Daemons, which act as the classes found in traditional roleplaying games. Each Daemon has its own unique weapons and skills, and players can shift between them in real time to gain the upper hand in battle.

After players have completed the Story Mode in the demo, they can check out Battle Mode. Battle Mode gives you four Daemons to use, who each have four different abilities to try out.

Oninaki will be released in late August for PC, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
