The next story DLC for Final Fantasy XV will be the last
Future DLC chapters cancelled for JRPG, multiplayer goes standalone
Square Enix has announced a number of plan changes for the future content of Final Fantasy XV.
Slated for release in March 2019, EPISODE ARDYN DLC offers players the opportunity to step into the role of Final Fantasy XV's main antagonist. Set before the events of the main game, players will learn more about Ardyn’s backstory in a story of death and restoration.
However, that DLC will be the last. The previously announced DLC episodes featuring the characters Aranea, Lunafreya and Noctis, will no longer be produced.
A standalone edition of Final Fantasy XV Multiplayer: Comrades will release on December 12. Players can participate in various hunt, guard and convoy quests in co-op gameplay with up to four other players. The new update will bring 10 additional powerful bosses.
Current owners of Comrades who wish to continue playing can download the standalone edition for free when it launches.
Final Fantasy XV was released on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
