Final Fantasy XIV release date, PC specs revealed

The game is set to ship this fall, and will run on modest configurations

Square Enix has revealed that Final Fantasy 14 hits shelves on September 30, but those who pay for the Collector's Edition will get it September 22.

The Collector's Edition goes for $74.99 and comes with lots of extras like a making-of DVD and an in-game item called the Onion Helm, along with an earlier ship date. The $49.99 regular edition get free gameplay for 30 days and a Garlond Goggles in-game item if players pre-registered.

Also confirmed were the minimum tech requirements to run Final Fantasy XIV:
Operating System: Windows XP SP3, Windows Vista 32bit / 64bit, Windows 7 32bit / 64bit
CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo (2.0GHz), AMD Athlon X2 (2.0GHz)
Memory: Windows XP - 1.5GB or higher, Windows Vista / Windows 7 - 2GB or higher
HDD Space: Install - 15GB or more, Download - Space on the hard drive where My Documents is located should be 6GB or more
Graphics Card: NVIDIA GeForce 9600 series or higher with VRAM 512MB or more, ATI Radeon HD 2900 series or higher with VRAM 512MB or more
Sound Card: DirectSound compatible sound card (DirectX 9.0c or higher)
Internet Connections: Broadband Internet connection or higher
Resolution: 1280 x 720 or higher; 32bit or higher
DirectX: DirectX 9.0c

The next beta phase of Final Fantasy XIV starts in July.
