PS4 has sold over 73 million units globally
Almost 6 million units sold over the 2017 holiday season
Sony Interactive Entertainment has announced the latest sales data for the PlayStation 4 console.
The PS4 has now cumulatively sold through more than 73.6 million units globally as of December 31, 2017, with 5.9 million units being sold during the 2017 holiday season.
Further, more than 55.9 million PS4 games were sold during the 2017 holiday season in retail stores worldwide and through digital downloads on PlayStation Store. This totals up to 645.0 million copies cumulatively sold as of December 31, 2017.
PlayStation Network saw the number of PlayStation Plus subscribers surpassing 31.5 million, and PS Store recorded its largest-ever monthly sales of content in December 2017.
For reference, Sony's previous console, the PS3, sold 80 million units between 2006 and 2013. The PS2 remains the best selling console of all time, with over 155 million sold.
PlayStation 4 first launched in 2013, and the more powerful PlayStation 4 Pro was released in 2016.
