Microsoft to publish PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds on Xbox
Expanded partnership announced for upcoming console version
At gamescom 2017, Microsoft and Bluehole have announced an expansion of their partnership agreement for PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).
At E3 earlier this summer, it was announced that PUBG will be launching exclusively on Xbox One in the Xbox Game Preview program in late 2017. Since then, the team has realized that working together with Microsoft will be beneficial to bring the console version to life, which has led to the decision on extending the partnership with Microsoft. This means that Microsoft will now be the publisher for PUBG on Xbox One.
"By partnering with Microsoft, our team believes that we will be able to accelerate console development, while maintaining quality across all platforms, as well as giving us access to vast sales, marketing and publishing resources that will help us reach new fans," said CH Kim, Executive Producer of PUBG and VP at Bluehole.
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds first launched as an Early Access game on PC via Steam, and has so far sold over 8 million copies.
