Alonso's 2006 car is coming to F1 2017
Championship-winning vehicle is one of the classic cars included
Codemasters have revealed that the ninth classic car coming to F1 2017 is the 2006 Renault R26. Driven by Fernando Alonso and Giancarlo Fisichella, it won eight out of 18 races in 2006 and earned seven pole positions that year. It helped Alonso to win two successive World Drivers’ Championships in the sport, in 2006 and 2007.
It joins the eight other classic Formula 1 cars already announced: 1988 McLaren MP4/4, 1992 Williams FW14B, 1995 Ferrari 412, 1996 Williams FW18, 2002 Ferrari F2002, 2004 Ferrari F2004, 2007 Ferrari F2007, and 2010 Red Bull Racing RB6. Additional classic cars will be revealed over the next few weeks leading up to the release of the game.
F1 2017 features a brand new ‘Championships’ game mode and a return of classic cars, and promises other enhancements to the career and multiplayer. The 2006 Renault R26 will be playable when F1 2017 releases on August 25th for PS4, Xbox One and PC.
