Xbox One S releases in early August
New slimmer console comes with updated controller
Microsoft has announced that the new Xbox One S slim console will begin hitting shelves in select regions on August 2.
The 2TB launch edition will be available in limited quantities for $399 USD ($499.99 CAD), while consoles with 1TB and 500GB hard drives will be offered for $349.99 USD ($449.99 CAD) and $299.99 USD ($399.99 CAD), respectively.
The new Xbox One S is 40 percent smaller than the original Xbox One. It also includes a built-in power supply, can be placed horizontally or vertically with an optional stand. It supports Blu-ray movies and video in 4K Ultra HD video. Xbox One S also offers High Dynamic Range (HDR) support for video and gaming.
Xbox One S also comes bundled with the new Xbox Wireless Controller featuring textured grip, improved Xbox Wireless signal and added Bluetooth support. The controller can be purchased as a standalone item for $59.99 USD ($74.99 CAD) and will also be available on August 2. All Xbox One games, accessories and Xbox Live services will work with Xbox One S.
