PS4 system update 3.50 releasing tomorrow
Major new feature is remote play on PC and Mac
Sony has announced that the next major system software update for PS4, version 3.50 (codenamed MUSASHI), is coming tomorrow.
New social features include the choice to Appear Offline, Friend Online Notification, and User Scheduled Events. There's also Play Together, a feature that allows all members of a Party to see what each person is playing so that you can join a friend’s game, or start a new game together.
The major new addition in firmware 3.5 is Remote Play on PC and Mac. Players will need to have Windows 8.1, Windows 10 or later; or OS X 10.10 and OS X 10.11. There will be a number of resolution and frame rate options, depending on your Internet bandwidth. The options are 360p, 540p (default), 720p; and Standard (30fps, default), High (60fps), respectively.
Fans can use one DualShock 4 as the controller for Remote Play, which needs to be connected to your PC / Mac via a USB cable.
PlayStation 4 has previously supported Remote Play with PS Vita, PS TV, and some Sony mobile phones.
