EverQuest Next no longer in development
Daybreak chooses to focus on other franchises
Daybreak Games have announced that they are discontinuing development of EverQuest Next.
"In the case of EverQuest Next, we accomplished incredible feats that astonished industry insiders. Unfortunately, as we put together the pieces, we found that it wasn’t fun. We know you have high standards when it comes to Norrath and we do too. In final review, we had to face the fact that EverQuest Next would not meet the expectations we – and all of you – have for the worlds of Norrath," said company President Russell Shanks in a statement.
EverQuest Next was a planned massively multiplayer online role-playing game, meant to be the successor to EverQuest, EverQuest Online Adventures and EverQuest II. The game made its formal debut back in 2012, however updates since then have been sparse.
Daybreak Game Company will now likely focus on their H1Z1 franchise, which was recently split up into two games.
