Lionhead Studios and Press Play Studios closed
Microsoft has decided to shut down two development teams in Europe
Microsoft Studios has announced the end of two teams and their projects in the UK and Denmark - Lionhead Studios and Press Play Studios.
"After much consideration we have decided to cease development on Fable Legends, and are in discussions with employees about the proposed closure of Lionhead Studios in the UK. Additionally, we will close Press Play Studios in Denmark, and sunset development on Project Knoxville," said the company.
Lionhead Studios were best known for their Black&White and Fable franchises. Their most recent title was 2012's Fable: The Journey, and they were very close to finishing Fable Legends for Xbox One, set to release this year.
Press Play had their most recent title in 2012 with Kalimba.
Microsoft added, "We are committed to working closely with those affected by today’s news to find them new opportunities at Xbox, or partnering with the broader development community to help place them in jobs elsewhere in the games industry should they desire."
