Konami closes Los Angeles studio
Formerly Kojima Productions, the staff in LA worked on MGO
Konami has confirmed the closure of its Los Angeles studio.
Formerly known as Kojima Productions LA, this particular office opened in 2013 and was tasked with the development and support of Metal Gear Online component in Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain.
The confirmation was sent to Polygon.
Despite the news, Konami says it will continue its operations to support all Metal Gear Solid titles, including the recently launched Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear Online. Metal Gear Online is still scheduled to release for PC Steam in January 2016, and will continue to be supported on consoles where it went live last month.
The future of the MGS franchise remains in limbo, as following a series of events, Konami and series creator Hideo Kojima have parted ways.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain was released in September for Xbox One, PS4, Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.
