Umbrella Corps announced
New third person multiplayer shooter set in Resident Evil universe
At the Sony Computer Entertainment Press Conference 2015 in Tokyo today, Capcom announced Umbrella Corps, a new fast-paced third person shooter set in the Resident Evil universe.
The competitive online game promises quick, intense matches in compact battle zones themed from historic Resident Evil environments. The game utilizes the Unity engine developed by Unity Technologies. Umbrella Corps will be available digitally for $29.99 / €29.99 / £24.99.
In the present day, corporations with nebulous interests in bio-weaponry have hired squads of special forces for experimental battles in restricted virus-infected areas against other mercenaries. The game will feature an analog aim and cover system, allowing for more precise control when firing from cover.
In the One Life Match mode, players must achieve their main objective to take down the other team without any option to re-spawn. Players must also contend with classic Resident Evil enemies such as zombies that populate each map.
Combatants will be equipped with gun and grenade based weaponry as well as specialized gear. The non-traditional arsenal includes the Brainer, Tactical Shield, Terrain Spikes, and Zombie Jammer (a device which repels zombies only when active).
Umbrella Corps will be released for PC and PlayStation 4 in early 2016.
