Star Wars: Battlefront beta in early October
Open Beta for all platforms. Game will not have a server browser
The Beta for Star Wars: Battlefront is coming early October to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC. The technical test and will feature Walker Assault on Hoth, a 40-player multiplayer battle featuring Rebels and the Empire. Walker Assault will also let players control two heroes, Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. The Survival Mission on Tatooine is also included. A new mode, Drop Zone, will also make it in the beta. Details on this mode will be provided at a later date. The beta will be open, no preorder is necessary to gain access.
Available during the beta is the Star Wars Battlefront Companion experience. This features the strategic card game Base Command, and lets you earn in-game Credits that unlock Star Cards, weapons, and more in Star Wars Battlefront. It will also let players check stats, customize load-outs and appearance, and connect with friends.
Star Wars: Battlefront will not have a server browser on any platform. Instead it will use a skill-based matchmaking system. This was revealed today via reddit and official twitter accounts. Previously the developers have stated the game will not be using Battlelog, the multiplayer hub for Battlefield games, but it was never revealed what would be replacing the system. Now we have confirmation, match-making only on all platforms.
Star Wars: Battlefront releases for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on November 17, 2015.
