MGS V: The Phantom Pain PC release moved up
PC version will now launch alongside consoles, Metal Gear Online delayed
Konami has announced it will release the PC edition of Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on the same day alongside the console iterations on Sept. 1.
Originally scheduled to launch on Sept. 15, the publisher says it heard the comments from PC fans and worked toward an earlier release date. All Steam customers will receive a collector’s video which reveals behind the scenes footage and a unique documentary, in addition to DLC in the form of a ‘Venom Snake’ emblem and Mother Base Staff. Pre-orders also receive a free copy of MGS V: Ground Zeroes.
As with its prequel, the PC version of The Phantom Pain hosts a 4k mode. The game is also enhanced for those with NVIDIA GeForce graphics cards. For a limited time those who purchase qualifying GeForce GTX GPUs will get a free copy of the game.
Konami has also revealed that the console versions of Metal Gear Online - the multiplayer component of The Phantom Pain - will go live on Oct. 6, with the PC version set to release in January 2016.
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be released on September 1 for PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, and PS4.
