Dead Island 2 developer dropped
Publisher Deep Silver ends relationship with Yager
Dead Island 2 publisher Deep Silver has announced that they have ended the relationship with the developer Yager Development on the game.
Yager has been working on Dead Island 2 for a few years, with the game showing up at least year's E3 and PAX Prime, and expected to launch in 2015-2016. Now, the IP owner Deep Silver has said in a brief statement that they have taken the game back from Yager.
"With Dead Island 2, Deep Silver has always been dedicated to delivering the sequel that Dead Island fans deserve. After careful consideration, today we announce the decision to part ways with development partner Yager. We will continue working towards bringing our vision of Dead Island 2 to life, and we will share further information at a later stage."
Yager Development, best known for Spec Ops: The Line, will now have to move on to other things, while Deep Silver hasn't said how it will pick a new development studio to carry on with Dead Island 2.
Dead Island 2 is expected to release on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
