Destiny 2: Renegades Adds Star Wars-Themed Weapons, Armor, and Systems

Posted by nutcrackr on

Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2: Renegades will launch on December 2, 2025, bringing new exotic and legendary weapons, armor, and systems to the game. The expansion is set on Mars and centers on players taking the role of space outlaws who complete contracts, earn reputation with factions, and travel between planets.

The official trailer, narrated by Spider, introduced multiple weapons inspired by Star Wars. The Uncivil Discourse hand cannon is modeled after Han Solo’s DL-44 blaster. The A499 Heavy Sniper Rifle resembles The Mandalorian’s Amban rifle. Additional revealed weapons include the Modified B-7 Pistol, All or Nothing Pulse Rifle, Compact Defender Sidearm, and M-17 Fast Talker Submachine Gun. Each weapon appears as part of the Renegades expansion’s new arsenal of six Legendary and five Exotic items.

Two exotic weapons were featured. The Praxic Blade is a kinetic sword that reflects incoming fire, melee, and ranged attacks. The Heirloom, a Solar exotic combat bow, fires high-powered explosive bolts and mirrors Chewbacca’s Bowcaster.

Three new exotic armor pieces were also shown, one for each class.

  • Fortune’s Favor (Hunter Leg Armor): After landing a final blow while at full health or staying out of combat for a set duration, the player’s shield recharges into an overshield. While any overshield is active, weapons gain increased accuracy, stability, handling, and damage against combatants. When the overshield is lost, final blows briefly increase mobility.
  • Praxic Vestment (Titan Chest Armor): Arc-powered melee and weapon final blows build Jetpack Fuel. Activating the jetpack while airborne launches the Titan forward with Arc energy. Colliding with an enemy creates a blinding explosion and grants a temporary melee bonus. The design and movement system are comparable to Anthem’s Javelin suits and the Twilight Garrison exotic from earlier Destiny content.
  • Deimosuffusion (Warlock Helmet): When a Warlock has a Strand Super equipped, casting Rift suspends nearby enemies. The suspension inflicts continuous damage while healing the player. Enemies that escape suspension take additional damage. Defeating suspended enemies restores health.

In addition to the new gear, Bungie announced structural updates to the game. A new feature called the Orders System simplifies progression and increases player control over loadouts and rewards. The Lawless Frontier activity lets players choose and complete contracts across multiple planets, solo or with other players.

A new social hub, the Tharsis Outpost, serves as the central base during the expansion. Players can access missions, manage gear, and interact with others from this location.

Bungie revealed these details as Destiny 2 Steam player count has declined to concerning levels for a live-service title, and prominent community figures such as Datto and Gladd have taken breaks from the game. The developer aims for Renegades to restore player engagement through new content and systems.

In total, the Destiny 2: Renegades expansion will feature:

  • 6 new Legendary weapons
  • 5 new Exotic items (2 weapons and 3 armor pieces)
  • A new Orders progression system
  • The Lawless Frontier activity
  • The Tharsis Outpost hub on Mars
