Python Commandos Warbond Drops in Helldivers 2 With High-Power Weapons

Posted by nutcrackr on

The Python Commandos Premium Warbond is now officially available in Helldivers 2, releasing on December 2, 2025, alongside the game’s newest update. The announcement, made through the PlayStation Blog, outlines a full lineup of weapons, stratagems, armor, cosmetics, and utility items that expand the game’s jungle-commando theme. The update follows a period of stabilization for the game, which was originally released on February 8, 2024, for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.

Throughout 2025, Arrowhead slowed its rapid release schedule after players began experiencing mounting issues. The September Into the Unjust update, in particular, triggered widespread reports of crashes, performance drops, and persistent bugs. In response, the studio shifted its focus to fixes that strengthened the game’s core systems. The patches have improved overall stability, and with that groundwork in place, the team is now returning to more substantial content additions.

At the center of the Python Commandos Warbond is the M-1000 Maxigun, a belt-fed heavy weapon with ultra-high ammo capacity. According to Arrowhead Social Media and Community Manager Katherine Baskin, “The Ministry of Defense received thousands of requests from squad commanders for a minigun,” making this addition one of the most anticipated since launch. The weapon’s arrival has drawn comparisons to well-known action sequences involving miniguns, including those from Predator and Terminator 2.

Two additional stratagems accompany the Maxigun. The AX/FLAM-75 “Guard Dog” Hot Dog modifies the familiar drone companion by equipping it with a flamethrower, allowing it to burn through enemies before returning to the player’s backpack to refuel. The CQC-9 Defoliation Tool functions as a chainsaw-style melee option designed for cutting through both enemies and environmental obstacles.

The update also introduces a new primary weapon, the AR/GL-21 One-Two. It combines an assault rifle with a grenade launcher, offering significant damage output at the cost of heavier handling. Arrowhead describes it as providing “two guns in one,” giving players more versatility in a single weapon slot.

Two armor sets continue the warbond’s jungle-commando motif. The RS-20 Constrictor serves as a light armor option and is described as the official uniform of the League of Patriotic Arm Wrestlers, built for agility. The RS-40 Best of Prey offers a heavy armor alternative modeled after legendary Helldiver Ronald Mambo’s physique. Both armor sets include the Rock Solid passive, which makes players more resistant to staggering and ragdolling attacks.

Cosmetic additions include two capes—Foe Rent Asunder, a pre-tattered design intended to look battle-worn, and Mark of the Constrictor, themed around suppressing anti-democratic behavior. Players will also gain access to the Front-Leaning Rest Position emote, which allows them to drop into a push-up stance, and the Chameleon Camo Pattern, applicable to the FRV, Exosuit, Hellpod, and Shuttle.

Additional patterns and visual items expand customization beyond previous warbonds, such as the Halo ODST Legendary Warbond and Dust Devils. As with all Premium Warbonds, Python Commandos requires Super Credits, which players can purchase using real money or earn through gameplay.
