Call of Duty Black Ops 7 Leak Hints at Earlier November Release

Posted by nutcrackr on

Speculation has been circulating that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 might be released earlier than planned. The game, developed by Treyarch Studios and published by Activision, is currently scheduled to launch on Friday, November 14, 2025, across PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC. However, a recent leak suggests the release could move up by one week to Friday, November 7, 2025.

The rumor began on October 20, 2025, when well-known Call of Duty insider TheGhostOfHope posted on X (formerly Twitter) about hearing that there may be “some evidence” of a potential release date change. The insider clarified that he wasn’t entirely convinced by the rumor but said it would be a pleasant surprise if true, estimating only about a 20% chance that it could actually happen.

If accurate, it would be the first time in years that a mainline Call of Duty title moved its launch date forward after being announced. The idea of a last-minute adjustment so close to release immediately caught fans’ attention, given how rare it is for AAA games to alter release timelines once marketing and distribution plans are already underway.

Many players began speculating about what might motivate such a change. Players believe Activision could be considering an earlier release to compete directly with Battlefield 6, which launched on October 10, 2025, and has already sold more than seven million copies in under a week. The fierce rivalry between Battlefield and Call of Duty has defined the shooter genre for years, so it wouldn’t be surprising if Activision wanted to capitalize on the growing buzz around Battlefield’s success.

Players have also suggested that the supposed earlier release might not indicate a full public launch, but rather early access for deluxe edition players — a practice common in the gaming industry. However, while early access periods typically last 72 hours, a full week of advance play would be highly unusual, so this rumor is harder to confirm.

Developed by Treyarch Studios and published by Activision, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is one of the most anticipated titles of the year. Serving as a direct sequel to 2012’s Black Ops 2, the story follows David Mason and his team of covert operatives. Earlier this month, fans got a first look during the open beta weekend, which showcased the game’s updated movement system, reworked weapons, and a mix of new and returning maps.

During the beta, players also noticed several gameplay changes. Treyarch announced the return to traditional matchmaking, the removal of disbanding lobbies, and the cancellation of the Carry Forward feature, which had allowed content to transfer between titles. At launch, the game will include 16 standard 6v6 multiplayer maps and two larger 20v20 maps, giving players classic and large-scale combat environments.

In response to the growing rumors, Treyarch addressed the speculation directly. Shortly after TheGhostOfHope’s post spread online, the studio reiterated that Black Ops 7 remains on schedule for its November 14 release date. “We’re less than a month away from Black Ops 7’s launch on Nov 14!” the team posted on social media, effectively confirming that no changes are planned.

Still, the community hasn’t stopped talking. A few fans said the original date fits perfectly with their schedules, whereas others admitted they’d love to play sooner, even if it meant limited early access for digital editions. Players are hedging their bets but keeping their hopes up.

For now, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 is confirmed to launch globally on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC, with no campaign early access this year. That means every player, no matter the platform or edition, will jump in together on release day.
