New Game Network reveals brand new design

Improved features, new visual style, and more

Posted on

New Game Network Ltd (http://www.newgamenetwork.com), a popular Canadian video game publication, has today revealed a brand new look for its online video game portal. Launching ahead of the busy Fall season, the brand new website offers a host of new features, a completely redesigned back-end, and a new visual style.

Co-founder and Executive Editor Alex V commented: "The new website represents months of work and a fresh outlook for our corner of the Internet. Our previous design is being retired, after servicing millions of readers and pageviews, since the middle of 2009. The 2.0 design has evolved significantly over time, but with 3.0 we have completely reinvented the site and hope that our readers will enjoy the new style, functionality, and performance. We are thrilled to look ahead to the busy Fall gaming release schedule, and delivering our content with the brand new code in place."

Dubbed New Game Network V3.0, the new web portal is now ready for new and existing fans and readers to dive into the new features and look. Some of the major features of the new version include a complete technical redesign that is fully compliant with the latest HTML5 technologies, and as a result improved loading speeds for the content. Users are sure to appreciate a refreshed visual style that falls more in line with the modern web design practices, featuring new navigation options, better colors, and stylized graphics. There are also many new usability features, such as Related Games info box, new designs to more clearly present information, cross-platform content referencing, and a new global font for better readability.

"We tore out the inner components of the old site and rebuilt them with usability in mind. The old site structure was built with aging design principles (nested tables) and we decided it was a good time to update for HTML5. This redesign also means changes are easier and quicker to implement. We will continue to work on the layout and functionality over the coming months, so fan feedback is always welcome," said Ben Thomas, Co-founder and Web Architect.

New Game Network first launched in January 2009, with the debut design featuring the classic PHPNuke CMS. Shortly after in the summer of 2009, NGN V2.0 was introduced to the world and has served as the main portal until today. New Game Network V3.0 marks the end of a successful era for the previous design, and a start of a wholly new and even better experience for readers.
