CRYSIS 2 SET IN NEW YORK CITY

The long-awaited "new kind of jungle" turns out to be NYC

Crytek's sequel to the tropical island set first-person shooter Crysis has a new Nanosuit, new platforms on which to play it and an all new urban setting, New York City, according to the latest issue of PlayStation: The Official Magazine [via Kotaku].

Crysis 2 takes players to a new urban jungle in the sequel, bound for the PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, where aliens are apparently invading and is expected to ship before March 2011. You'll have to pick up the newest issue of the print publication to learn more, but the cover already reveals this huge development.

I'm skeptical of this, to say the least. I wasn't the biggest fan of the first Crysis (although I know whoever reviewed it here certainly was) and this drastic change in pace to something far more generic in terms of FPSs makes me a bit weary. I guess time will tell.

Im looking forward to this, it might be a nice change for crytek and the franchise. If they add alot of destructibility to the urban environments and keep the dynamic feeling of the combat like they did in crysis 1 it could be good. I just dont want to see this game get turned into modern warfare.

its hard to imagine how Crytek will handle a city after so much experience with jungle environments.

while the PS3 has the hardware(killzone 2 and uncharted 2 showed us this) I don't think that crytek is capable of making it forests to their standard happen on any current console.

Very interesting. Though I have no idea how the story will end up here. Will they start a new story since the console players missed out on the first 2 games? Also, while NYC is great, it is getting over-used and I can't avoid the feeling it was done in a city so the consoles could handle the draw distance...
