Dreamfall Chapters begins Kickstarter campaign

Independent development studio hopes to raise cash for adventure game

Posted by Alex 'SpectralShock' V on Feb 9, 2013 - 7:05pm EST (98 days ago)

Red Thread Games, an independent game development studio founded by Ragnar Tørnquist, has announced their Kickstarter initiative has begun.

The company hopes to raise $850,000 for Dreamfall Chapters, the next and final adventure game in the trilogy. "We aim to recapture the heart and soul of The Longest Journey and to improve on the immersion and game mechanics of Dreamfall in order to bring you a fitting, satisfying and emotional conclusion to the Dreamer Cycle," said the developers.

The first two games in the saga - The Longest Journey and Dreamfall: The Longest Journey - were made by Funcom, but for Dreamfall Chapters, Red Thread Games has licensed the rights to the saga from Funcom, and are producing and funding the game themselves, independently of any publisher.

If the funding campaign is successful, Dreamfall Chapters is scheduled for November 2014 release on PC.
