EA Sports has provided first details about a new GM Connected mode for NHL 13.
The mode allows the traditional Be A GM mode to go online, letting gamers around the world to join together to manage teams in their own virtual NHL. Up to 30 people can each manage their own NHL team, with the total number of players able to take part in a GM Connected league being 750.
There are a number of ways to play as well - against CPU, against another GM in head to head play, Co-Op/Online Team Play (similar to EASHL), Build Your AI (for when you're not able to play), and with Coach Controls.
Each league will have a Commissioner player, who creates the league, manages the invitations to the league and confirms join requests. The Commish also sets up the schedule of when the games are to be played, overseeing trades, and much more. General Manager players focus on building their team's roster and growing through draft and trades. Finally, regular players are all about the on-ice action.
Because of the big scale of the league, a mobile app will be available that lets players perform a number of tasks when not at their game console. You can view stats and scores, trade players, sign free agents, and post messages on the go.
NHL 13 is set to launch this September on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.
