Canadian Videogame Awards 2012 finalists announced

The best of Canadian developers set to compete for the top prize

Posted on
The finalists in fourteen categories were announced today for the upcoming Canadian Videogame Awards, which will be held in Vancouver on Saturday, April 21, 2012 at the Vancouver Convention Centre.

"We are all incredibly excited about the third annual Canadian Videogame Awards!” said Victor Lucas, host of Electric Playground and one of the award show’s founders. “This is our chance to thank and honour all of the enormously talented individuals who build the world class entertainment of the future every day in our country.”

Over 100 nominations were received this year from all parts of Canada, with 28 games represented in the list of finalists. Winners will be voted on by a body of industry experts from across the country.

Game of the Year finalists include Assassin’s Creed Revelations, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, FIFA 12, Fight Night Champion, and Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP. As before, the public can get in the game and cast their vote for Canadian Game of the Year at the
official website. The website also contains the full listing of nominations.

David Hayter, the voice of Solid Snake from the Metal Gear Solid franchise, will be the host for the evening and the show will broadcast across the country on Citytv and G4 Canada through the Rogers Network.

The Canadian Videogame Awards will be held in conjunction with Fan Expo Vancouver. Fan Expo pass holders will have access to general seating at the awards on a first come-first served basis.
