Risen 2 to use Steamworks
Publisher decided to use the Steam Platform from Valve on a worldwide basis
A Deep Silver representative has confirmed that the company will use Valve's Steamworks platform as DRM on a worldwide basis, for the upcoming title Risen 2 on PC.
The digital copy of Risen 2 will also not require two different copy protections on Steam (compared to Risen 1). Risen 2 will be playable without a DVD in the drive if the product has been added to a Steam account and will be available for download on other PCs.
Users will only be required to be online once – to link your game to your Steam account and afterwards you will be able to play offline and without DVD in the drive. You will also be able to install Risen 2 from your Steam account on as many systems you like.
There are more details and explanations in the announcement thread. Risen 2: Dark Waters is an upcoming RPG set to release in 2012.
