2K Games has announced that The Darkness II is now planned for release on February 7, 2012 in North America and February 10, 2012 internationally. This delay affects both console and PC versions of the title, which was previously set to ship in October of this year.
Currently in development with Digital Extremes and based on the supernatural horror comic book series created by Top Cow Productions, The Darkness II delivers a brutal and personal narrative as gamers take control of Jackie Estacado, head of a New York crime family and wielder of an ancient and ruthless force of chaos and destruction known as the Darkness.
The Darkness II is the sequel to the million unit-selling 2007 title, The Darkness, and brings a unique new combat mechanic through Quad-Wielding, which will allow players to slash, grab, and throw objects and enemies with two Demon Arms while simultaneously firing two weapons.
The Darkness II is not yet rated by the ESRB, and will be available for Windows PC, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. For more on the game, check out our E3 2011 preview.
