Witcher 2 to include SecuRom DRM
DRM, no region-specific censorship confirmed for upcoming RPG
At the CD Projekt Red Spring Conference today, new details have been revealed about Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings, including DRM details.
CD Projekt has confirmed that The Witcher 2 will in fact use SecuROM for its retail release DRM. The developers noted that the DRM will still allow for unlimited installations on an unlimited number of computers, with ability to play on up to five computers at once. The game also requires an internet connection for the initial activation.
The only DRM-free version of the game can be obtained digitally from Good Old Games (GOG.com). This is also the only outlet that will allow users to pre-load 90% of the final game.
It was also confirmed that the game will not have any censorship or gameplay differences across global regions. Up to sixteen different endings are possible in the RPG.
The Witcher 2 is set to release on PCs in May.
